The 2nd Annual Book Blogger Awards: Rules and Categories

Hey everyone!! For those of you that don’t remember, last year I decided to start The Book Blogger Awards, which are exactly what it sounds like– blogger awards exclusively for book bloggers.  I was honestly so humbled and amazed by what a big response I got last year (see the winners here) and so I decided to continue the tradition and host the 2nd Annual Awards!!

I can’t wait to see who you all nominate, and find tons of new book bloggers to add to my reading list 🙂 Just read the rules below and get started!

How it Works

Round 1: Nominations

  • When: April 1st-April 30th
  • What:  During the month of April, you have the opportunity to nominate bloggers for each category.  To do this, you can make your own post (preferred) or simply comment below with your nominations.  If you’re commenting, PLEASE KEEP IT ALL IN ONE POST.  For those of you writing your own posts, comment the link below or make sure there’s a pingback.
  • Why: This is your opportunity to make sure all of your favorite bloggers are recognized! The blogosphere is huge so it’s important that you contribute to make sure everyone has a chance.

Round 2: Voting

  • When: May 13th- May 20th
  • What: The 4 bloggers with the most nominations in each category will move onto the Twitter voting round.  On May 13th, I’ll post a Twitter poll for each category, and you’ll all have a week to vote.  After the polls close, I’ll be deleting them immediately so that you hopefully won’t all see the results 🙂
  • Why: Support your nominee!! Help them build their Twitter platform!

Results

  • When: June 1st
  • What: An entire blog post dedicated to the winners, complete with all the rave reviews each winner received.

The Rules

  1. All of the nominees MUST BE BOOK BLOGGERS (that’s the point).  However, you do not have to be a book blogger to nominate others.  As long as you read book blogs occasionally, you can vote.
  2. You may nominate up to 3 people for each category.
  3. Please make sure that the bloggers you nominate for each category actually fit that category.  On that vein, make an attempt to nominate DIFFERENT bloggers for each category, if possible.  There might be some overlap, but there’s so many bloggers out there that deserve recognition, so spread the wealth.
  4. In your nominations, please include the blogger’s name and a link to their blog.  If you tell me “Jess” writes the best reviews ever, I’m not going to know for certain who you’re talking about, and so she won’t get notified.
  5. To reiterate, you can nominate people by writing a post (PREFERRED) or in the comments below. Tag your nomination posts with #bookbloggerawards2018 and link it back to this post / post the link in comments to make sure that I see it.

I read and I write about it. If I'm not online or with my nose in a book, I can probably be found at the basketball court.

  1. I nominate Two Girls and a Book Obsession! https://twogirlsandabookobsession.com/ because they are so incredibly authentic and smart and enthusiastic and their love for books flies off the page. Oh, and their love for readers is huge! And their love for authors! As an author I’ve felt over the moon supported by Two Girls and all kinds of grateful. As a bookstore owner their book recommendations are fantastic and fresh! Really their blog is one of my absolute favorites amongst hundreds of book blogs I read each week! I’m all for them, and they so deserve to win!

  3. I would like to nominate Two Girls and a Book Obsession! https://twogirlsandabookobsession.com/ Not only are the two girls in question complete book lovers, sharing insightful perspectives on all the best books, but they also seem to get true joy in connecting books with readers. Their blog is like looking at your favorite book shelf and pulling a title down, deciding if you want to read that then, or go back for something else. The bloggers are super interactive and have such smart things to say. They also do great interviews with authors!

    1. sorry you can’t nominate your own blog! the point of these blogger awards are to find new bloggers and to acknowledge all of the incredible work other bloggers do… please do post nominations of other bloggers though!!!

  4. Hi Joce! My blog partner and I are fairly new to this. Our blog has exploded and we have received huge feedback from authors around the world. We would LOVE to be nominated for the New Blogger award! If someone wants to nominate us, they would just comment on this post of they don’t have a blog themselves (like one of our followers?) thanks for your help!

    1. hi!
yeah it says in the blog post that you can nominate people either by writing your own blog post or by commenting here!! Also, the best way to spread awareness for these awards/get to know new bloggers / get votes yourself is to cast your own nominations, so i would love it if you did!!!

  5. ooh thank you for the clarification about bloggers from an underrepresented group/minority! (the posting about diverse books part) (I really like that you have that category btw 💕) and aaahhh I am SO SO excited for this!! I don’t have Twitter so I’m definitely going to put my nominations to help spread the word ❤ quick question: I remember last year we didn’t have to provide a blogger for each category, is that true this year as well?

I’m super super excited for this, Joce!!! I love how these awards can promote blogs and you're awesome for doing this 😘 (also this comment keeps getting longer but a suggestion for next year: maybe have awards for "best blogger with under ___ followers" to help spread some small blogger love?? 💓)

    1. i’m so glad you’re excited!!!!! I loved doing this last year so i’m super excited to do this again!!
You don’t have to nominate for every category if you don’t want to 🙂
that’s a great suggestion for next year, i’ll certainly include it!

    1. okay wow diverse is most definitely the wrong word now that i think about it, but i meant a blogger from a minority/underrepresented group who at least occassionally talks about “diverse”/underreprented books!
